5 yr old BLM Mustang mare from Rock Creek, NV. She was SA so no title.
Kali is very well behaved and would be suitable for a first time Mustang owner but I would like to see her go to an experienced equine home since she is still young. All groundwork has been done and she has been started under saddle the correct and slow way. She is currently riding trails and doing WTC in the arena as well as helping out with beginner and more advanced riding lessons. Her demeanor is very quiet and she doesn't spook easily at all so because of this I could see her being a good child's horse or beginner mount as she becomes more seasoned.
Kali would be the perfect project to finish out your way as she is still a young horse and not a finished horse yet but she has a great foundation and is getting better with each ride. She does best with consistent riding but tacked up and rode out very nicely after a month off also. She does take a bit to warm up to new people but when you earn her trust you have nothing to worry over with her - and what I mean by that is she just tends to tune out ques and will act dull if she doesn't believe you know what you are doing but doesn’t do anything silly. She has some sass but she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She’s the perfect mix of quiet but has life.
Kali currently knows:
Leading in hand at walk and trot Yeilding at the poll and laterally Sidepass Lunges and knows the send command Is great for the farrier Bathes Nothing spooks her - very familiar with other farm animals such as dogs / chickens / cats Saddles Has been long lined and ground driven as well as had rope work done Yeilds her hind and forequarters Backs up directly and indirectly She has a lot of potential with jumping and has cleared up to 2.5ft on line though she hasn't been pushed in this area as I am not a jumper but I started introducing a jump under saddle with her today and she never refused it although she stepped over it more than she jumped it Extremely laid back, likes to be in your pocket Stands tied Has been extensively hauled all over and seen just about everything - amazing ground manners Has had a rope tossed off her and started some tracking - she really enjoys that Has been trail ridden all over and ponied along on trails also Loads well into a trailer - with you or will self load Is a very easy keeper - currently on grain free diet Stalls or pasture Low to mid range on the pasture totem pole and does well in a mixed herd - not mareish at all Currently taping at 14 HH but string tests to 14.2 HH and is built like a tank UTD on all vaccines, coggins, chiro, and just had her teeth done first week in March - vet checks are welcome at the buyers expense as well
Located about an hour Southwest of Nashville, TN and transportation can be arranged within reason (a couple of hours) for a fee.
I have mostly worked her on having forward impulsion under saddle as she is a more whoa than go type horse but will move out if asked. I am now working on getting her soft in the bridle, collection, yeilding hind and forequarters, backup, and we will start working lateral movement as she progresses. She is a quick learner and is starting to connect her feet to the reins nicely and is picking up on leg cues also.
Her training continues as long as I have her and being honest I'm not fully sure I want to sell her because she's truly amazing and I've gotten very attached to her but I have a busy training schedule this spring and it would be best if she found an amazing home that would love her and use her rather than me having too many horses and only one tush to put on all of them.
This is a very special horse who is worthy of an equally special person!
